2. Getting started

The following steps are necessary for a get started:

Preparation of SwyxWare, i.e. installation of the latest Quickfix, creation of a SIP gateway trunk und SwyxWare user; configuration of SwyxWare locations if necessary
    Preparation of the Patton SmartNode
Adjustment and installation of the Patton SmartNode INI file

2.1. Preparation of SwyxWare

Make sure that at least Quickfix 3 or a more recent Customer Hotfix/Quickfix is installed for SwyxWare2011R2.
Using the configuration assistant, create a new SIP Gateway Trunk group within the SwyxWare. Select the Trunk Group Profile "SwyxConnect 6000" that fits to your environment.
Create a new SIP Gateway Trunk for the newly created SIP Gateway Trunk Group.
Configure "SIP-User-ID" and "SIP Username" with a value of your choice, use the same value for both items.
    Configure the SIP password.
Configure the available range of external numbers.
    Activate all codecs.
Configure the number of available channels.
Set the local NetBIOS name as "Computername".

Afterwards, open the properties of the newly created SIP Gateway Trunk.

In the tab "Encryption", set the encryption mode to "No Encryption".

2.2. Preparation of Patton SmartNode

Please update the firmware of the Patton SmartNode to  SmartWare 6.T Build Series 2012-07-18 before adjusting the configuration. The latest firmaware can be found at  http://www.patton.com/support/upgrades/index.asp?t=SmartNode.
You will need an account with password to download the firmware. Just register to do so. This is free of charge, as well as the software download.

Connect the SmartNode through the network interface ETH 0/0 with your LAN. The SmartNode is configured as DHCP Client. Please check the lease table of your DHCP server to detect the assigned IP address.

Log in through the web interface of the SmartNode:

Username: administrator
No password

On the navigation on the left, use the item "Import/Export" -> "Import Firmware" to transfer the downloaded firmaware to the SmartNode. Afterwards, the SmartNode must be restarted and it will use the new firmware.

2.3. Configuration and Installation of the INI Files

At the end of this article, you can download a zip-file with several configuration templates. Choose the template that fits to your environment.

2.3.1 Configuration of the INI file

Open the chosen configuration template with a text editor, find the following terms and replace them with the appropriate settings. Note: A term may occur several times in the configuration template and must be replaced accordingly.

STANDALONE:

IP-PBXSERVER      IP Address of your SwyxWare server
    SIP-NAME              SIP-User-ID / Username of your trunk
    SIP-PASSWORD    Password of your trunk
SIP-REALM            Standard realm for SIP clients

MASTER-STANDBY

IP-PBXSERVER-MASTER      IP Address of your Master SwyxWare server
IP-PBXSERVER-STANDBY     IP Address of your Standby SwyxWare server
    SIP-NAME                            SIP-User-ID / Username of your trunk
    SIP-PASSWORD                   Password of your trunk
SIP-REALM                          Standard realm for SIP clients

SPECIAL SETTINGS

REMOTE-PATTON      IP address of a remote SmartNode
LYNC-SERVER          IP address of a Lync Mediation Server

Save the changes after adjusting the configuration file.

2.3.2 Installation of the INI file

Connect the SmartNode through the network interface ETH 0/0 with your LAN. The SmartNode is configured as DHCP Client. Please check the lease table of your DHCP server to detect the assigned IP address.

If you want to run the SmartNode with a manually assigned IP address, please replace the line  "ipaddress dhcp" by "ipaddress IP-ADDRESS SUBNETMASK"
i.e. "ipaddress 192.168.172.12 255.255.255.0" for the WAN interface in the configuration file. Additionally, you have to remove the '#' and adjust accordingly:

DNS-SERVER-IP1               IP address of the primary DNS server
DNS-SERVER-IP2               IP-Adresse of the secondary DNS server
STANDARD-GATEWAY-IP    IP-Adresse of the default router

Log in through the web interface of the SmartNode:

Username: administrator
No password

On the navigation on the left, use the item "Import/Export" -> "Import Configuration" to transfer the adjusted configuration file to the SmartNode. Afterwards, SmartNode must be restarted in order to get the loaded config applied. The SmartNode will then register with the SwyxWare.
