Overview

SIP-I (SIP with encapsulated ISUP) is an ITU-defined SIP extension which allows IP networks to provide services that are supported by ISUP networks. SIP-I specifies the criteria for enabling ISUP internetwork with SIP networks. SIP-I is an extension to an existing SIP protocol and transports ISUP specific messages over a SIP network.
