- Standard Ethernet v2 MTU is 1500 bytes; this is the largest payload size of the Ethernet frame and would be the maximum size of e.g. an IP datagram within the Ethernet frame.
- Ethernet v2 frame size with 1500 byte payload is 1518 bytes (without VLAN tags); the Ethernet frame size should not be confused with the MTU.
