What do I do if I have a USB modem on WinXP and the modem frequently disconnects?

 Frequent disconnection on a USB modem running on WinXP may be easily corrected by installing a fix from Microsoft that can be downloaded from: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q307271
